Spider-Man has swung back into action with a new TV show on Disney+, so you might be wondering where it fits in the MCU timeline.

Like X-Men '97 though, the answer is that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man doesn't take place in the 'main' timeline.

It was originally planned as a prequel show to Tom Holland's Spider-Man, but that changed "very early" in the production.

"I would say within the first two months of just coming up with the story, we were like, 'Well, we're very limited here.

Let's move it over, out of the Sacred Timeline, gives us a bit more freedom'," showrunner Jeff Trammell told ComicBook.com.
